SPAIN BEGUILES FASHION SEASON AFTER SEASON. It evokes images of toreadores in their embellished gilded jackets; flamenco dancers moving to the sound of a guitar in long skirts with endless layers of polka-dot ruffles; and copla singers standing on stage in back lace shawls with a rose behind their ears. Fashion designers and consumers alike look to Spain for its sunny demeanor and mystique, for a flower in our hair or a delicate black lace dress on a sunny day can go a long way. Cristóbal Balenciaga was a Spanish visionary whose legacy remains today, while Oscar de la Renta’s was continuously inspired in the country’s vibrancy. It’s why Vogue Spain’s editorial holds so much appeal. There are Isabel Marant mini dresses, Oscar de la Renta two-piece suits, and the most fabulous hats and large earrings, modelled by Andreea Diaconu amongst whitewashed buildings and tiled courtyards. The Spanish fantasy is alive and well. — Victoria.
