Anticipated Debuts at Dior and Valentino
There was a lot of nervousness during Paris Fashion Week in September. Both Valentino and Dior were debuting designers, and they didn’t disappoint. Chiuri’s first collection for Dior was marked by the fact she is the first woman to head the fashion house in its 70-year history, with t-shirts that read “We Should All Be Feminists” paired with the traditional Bar jacket, or an embellished tulle skirt. Piccoli unveiled his first solo collection for Valentino with 64 looks; pink and red intricate gowns that earned him a standing ovation and won over the audience immediately. Perhaps some breakups really are for the best.
