Providence, Rhode Island
The city of Providence in Rhode Island has been evolving since the mid-seventies, undergoing huge investments in the city’s infrastructure to revive the downtown. In 1994, the city’s most dramatic improvement was made when its natural rivers were uncovered. Providence is home to the Ivy League school Brown University, as well as Rhode Island School of Design, which is continually rated the top art & design school in the country. The RISD has greatly contributed to the vibrant arts community with dozens of downtown studios and galleries. The city is also home to more intact colonial homes than any other place in the united states and everything within the compact downtown is easy to explore on foot.
