WAS JUST TELLING MY friend Louise over drinks last night, about my very favourite coffee table book at the moment, William Hodgins Interiors by Stephen M. Salny & Margaret Russell. The book covers nearly 50 years of the work of William Hodgins, a Boston-based interior decorator who is regarded as one of the last great old-guard decorators. William Hodgins began decorating in the late 1960’s, when interior design was a profession without showrooms accessible to the public and before access
to the resources of the interwebs. Hodgins follows in the footsteps of Billy Baldwin and Sister Parish & Albert Hadley, for whom he worked early in his career. He still decorates in Boston today.
Click through for a glimpse of the designer’s stunning work, rooms that are, in his own words, “extraordinarily luxurious as they can be in a quiet, understated way.”
