HAVE BEEN MEANING to tell you about the Paris apartment of heiress & jewellery designer Gaia REPOSSI for a while. Located in the Eighth Arrondissement, it is all high, HIGH CEILINGS and pools of light, with bright WHITE WALLS left completely bare. There are elegant chevron floors and bookcases accessed by a gilded ladder, orchids and art and famous photographs.
Born in Italy, the designer has lived her entire life in FRANCE, where she studied painting, as well as archeology and anthropology. On the desk and tabletops, there are drawings and notebooks and pieces from her jewellery collections. “When you start to study human society, you can see how important to people decorating is”, says Gaia. “Maybe it’s the only thing left to us in the centuries that tells us about how our ancestors lived … I saw a lot of old things. Previously, they were mainly for beauty, but now rather valuable. I’m sorry that people are primarily interested in the stones, rather than the form.” Two cats, Prometheus & Perseus, also share the space, which is filled the continual scent of orchids . . .
