A FEW YEARS AGO, Laily interviewed India Hicks for TIG, and we discovered that she was a bridesmaid at Princess Diana’s wedding, and fell in love with her home in the Bahamas. And now, a glimpse at her childhood home, The Grove, the Hickses’ Oxfordshire estate since 1979, where her mother still lives, and where she returns often.
“In the late 1970s, the legendary interior designer David Hicks was forced to reduce the scale of his jet-setting lifestyle. After parting with Britwell, the family’s beloved Georgian manor, he and his wife, Lady Pamela Hicks, moved to a small but well-proportioned dower house on their former home’s large estate.”
With gilded tables and picture frames, pale pink cotton walls and white marble mantlepiece in the drawing room, it is an English countryside daydream . . .
