LAST WEEK‘S gruelling summer cold has morphed into atypical pneumonia and now there are antibiotics involved. It has been most unpleasant, but there are small signs of improvement, and the days are warm and golden and there are, of course, worse places to fall ill than in sunny, laid-back Spain. All around us, the news seems to constantly be dire — mental illnesses and high-profile suicides one week, children being separated from their parents the next, and it can be difficult at times to remember that good things still happen in the world, and they happen everyday. Remembering to keep a positive outlook may be the key to surviving these things, for, as Marcus Aurelius once said, “The soul becomes dyed with the colour of its thoughts.” For now, we are filling our days with work, work, stolen moments at cafés and evenings in the sultry summer air catching up over glasses of rosé; we’ve been watching missed episodes of Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown and getting caught up in the World Cup and surrounding ourselves with love and light and positivity.
This week’s links include travel tips for Copenhagen, and Mexico City, pearls and print dresses, Salted Jalapeño Tequila Shots and much, much more.
