Australian interior design firm Handelsmann + Khan is the collaborative efforts of Tania Handelsmann and Gillian Khaw. Handelsmann is a graduate of UNSW’s Architecture program with nearly twenty years of industry experience as the former Vice-President of BKH. Khaw’s career began in dealing antiques before studying Interior Design at the Design Centre Enmore, after which she spent years working in Europe, in Paris and then London at Anouska Hempel Design. Together, the partners aim to create interiors that mix the contemporary with the timeless to create “uncontrived spaces with a balance of spontaneity and refinement”. This project, Bellevue Hill House, is one of our favourites with its soothing palette of neutrals and soft hues: pale pinks and greens and muted yellows; elegant architectural details such as archways and wall panels, and beautiful textures such as crown mouldings and marble. These distinctive uniforms earned the name “blazer” for their bright appearance and the ship they represented.
