Interiors | Atelier AM by Alexandra & Michael Misczynski, Photographs by Francois Halard, with an essay by Mayer Rus (Rizzoli)

Everyone seems to be talking about the Los Angeles-based interior design /architecture firm of Alexandra and Michael Misczynski, lately, the husband and wife team who run Atelier AM and have been around for fourteen years. Most likely it has to do with the recent feature The Wall Street Journal ran on them about a month ago. The article describes the firm as becoming "...known for rooms that meld eye-catching antiques in settings that are both austere and deeply comfortable in a traditional sense." (WSJ)

Michael worked as an architect for Richard Meier and Alexandra trained under Michael Smith and Naomi Leff. Evidence of much-emulated Belgian designer and antiquaire Axel Vervoordt's influence is also evident throughout, the latter being known "captivatingly minimalist interiors infused with a serene sense of history and timelessness" (AD) This glimpse of their work is from their 2012 book, Interiors | Atelier AM, by by Alexandra Misczynski and Michael Misczynski, Photographed by François Halard, with Text by Mayer Rus, design and culture editor of the LA Times Magazine, and Introduction by Axel Vervoordt.
