This week’s piece is more of a masterclass in styling your home rather than a traditional home tour. Vibeke Svenningsen has created a sublime home in Norway which she shares with her husband, two daughters and her dog Nure, and which she styles and photographs to perfection for her eponymous blog and growing Instagram following.
Her pretty home is decorated predominantly in white, which acts as the backdrop for her exquisitely styled photographs. Vintage pieces and antiques are the perfect choice to furnish the space, with much of the furniture painted white and some of it gently chipped and worn, adding character and charm. And there are candles of course. Lots of candles as is the style in Scandinavia.
Vibeke uses seasonal flowers and foliage in her photographs, whether spring bulbs early in the year, luscious garden flowers at the height of the summer, or jewel-coloured berries towards the end of the year. Thus each set of photographs becomes an extraordinarily lovely ‘colour story’ in its own right.
Because her photographs tend to focus on beautiful styling, we are given only tantalising glimpses of Vibeke’s home at any time. And of course this merely lends to her charm by leaving us wanting to see more . . . —Louise
