This week’s interior inspiration is a traditional Georgian home that is any but traditional once inside: floating hand-painted palm trees and lime trellis wallpaper, dramatic blue lacquered walls offset the white marble French doors and breathtaking lakefront views . . .
On the one hand, according to architect Cormac Byrne, the clients wanted the house to look like it was 100 years old. “They asked for lots of traditional trim like wainscots and keystones,” he says. On the other hand, interior designer Eugenie Niven Goodman was charged with making things comfy, fresh and fun. “We looked to the past for inspiration, then sought ways to put a new take on everything” —Cottages & Gardens
