“A ROSE PERIOD” is how Carolina Herrera described her mood for spring. Indeed, pink felt right at the house of Herrera – both in the clothing and the intimate rosy atmosphere. In the Garden Court of the storied Frick Museum, where countless designers have wanted to stage their shows, but only the legendary Herrera was given a ‘yes’, the designer surprised and enticed the world. Subtle transparencies in organza, tulle, and sheer panelling showed a new sensual and delicate mood; athletic modern fabrics were adapted to the most feminine of dresses — Herrera was never one to shy away from modern materials. And of course, pink, in every imaginable shade, from the softest hue to a bright fuchsia and everything in between. A collection fit for a modern princess. —Victoria
