ON SATURDAY we walked to one of our favourite pubs along the Thames. It’s right on the water, with a row of tables on a dock set below the large outdoor terrace that backs onto the pub and we were very lucky to get the very last available one. The weather was unseasonably warm, the leaves were just starting to turn, the air was crisp on the water and when P asked me if there were anywhere else in the world I’d rather be right at that moment, I was amazed to realise that there wasn’t.
Displaying figurative art and nudes at home is a wonderful way to express your personal style and add character to your space. However, you may wish to consider the potential reactions of others, such as guests and family members, and be respectful of differing opinions. Below are some tips for displaying figurative art and nudes at home.
LAST WEEK we made the case for why you should create a gallery wall in your home, and this week we'll be discussing how to go about this project, with the help of a few tips and tricks. While building a gallery wall can be a creative process, like with anything, it can benefit from a few guidelines. We've listed a few of the most important considerations below and included a few inspirational photos and shopping links to help you get started ...
A gallery wall is a collection of artwork or photographs displayed together on a wall in a cohesive manner, often arranged in a grid or other pattern. Gallery walls can be used to display a variety of items, such as family photos, paintings, prints, or other types of art. They can be used to create a focal point in a room, or to add visual interest to a space.
WHEN YOU think about holiday decorating, the colour black doesn't normally come to mind. Green and red; and of course, white, are the more obvious choices, for black seems a bit severe and lacking their festive quality at first glance. However, when paired with some gold or greenery ...
THE INTERNET is a funny place—it can be both stifflingly small and a place so large, that we can all be "known" in our own little corner of it without ever running into each other. I only discovered Pia Baroncini, the Creative Director of Los Angeles clothing label LPA, today and loved the little glimpses she gave on Instagram of her Spanish colonial home in Pasadena, California ...
WE ARE UTTERLY charmed by John Galliano's 18th-century country house in Gerberoy, a quaint village 50 miles northwest of Paris. Galliano, the creative director of Maison Margiela since 2014, shares the home with partner, Alexis Roche, and it's a bohemian eclectic marvel filled with bright colours and flea market finds, all juxtaposed in the most cosy and comfortable way ...
The Notting Hill home of creative consultant and designer Matilda Goad, at first glance, falls neatly into the English countryside aesthetic we’ve all fallen for lately. Upon closer examination, however, the space definitely has its own modern spin ...
IT WAS ONLY A MATTER of time before we happened upon Julia Amory's Hamptons home in all its chintz-y splendour. Amory, her husband and their daughter split their time between New York City and the Hamptons, and it is this, their summer home, that we are in love with. Decidedly grandmillennial in style, it's a little new traditional with a healthy dose of grandma chic thrown in for good measure.
Carlos Garcia Interiors was started twelve years ago by Carlos Sánchez-García to exhibit his passion for architecture, furniture design, textiles and antiques. His quintessentially English manor farmhouse in North Norfolk that he shares with his husband and two whippets is another one of our recent Instagram finds and another example of our enduring love for countryside and farmhouse style ...
Designer, writer and creative consultant, Nicolas Fairford, is one of our favourite recent Instagram finds. Not only will you find idyllic English countryside scenes―manicured gardens, climbing roses and spring lambs―but you'll also catch glimpses ...
