IT HAS BEEN quite a while since we covered the Met Gala⏤its over-the-top theatrical displays are not often our thing. But, Anne Hathaway (above) looked stunning in Versace, enough to make us take a look at what others were wearing that night. This year’s dress code was “in honour of Karl.”
IT'S BEEN A WHILE since we've covered the Met Gala—2014, in fact—(here and here), and once again in 2018. Of course, it was cancelled last year due to the pandemic, but this year, it was brought back and there was so much social media coverage of it, it's clear that everyone is relieved to have some happy distraction to report on for a change ...
IT FELT STRANGE and wonderful to see fashion filling our social media feeds once again, after so much time away. Some shows were projected to our screens in the form of live video streams, some were artistic films, while others still were small live shows in front of Parisian audiences for the first time in ages. Fashion always makes us dream, which is a lovely thing during these uncertain times, and dream we did. Here are a few of our favourite settings, thoughts, and looks from the Fall 2021 haute couture season ...
It has been a while since the city has been so busy and filled with joy and laughter and traffic. And this change is in part thanks to the fashion community, who are finally back in the city to celebrate being back with their colleagues again, to reconnect with designers and P.R. and to assist with the shows ...
SOMETIMES THE BEST way to see upcoming trends is through a scroll on our Instagram feed. Lately, we've been seeing warm pinks especially in leather jackets, and often paired with buttery yellows and rust. There are also soft, feathery pinks as well as bold magenta, icing sugar shades as at Elie Saab and dusty, eighties shades on the streets of London. Scroll through for our favourite ways to wear this always lovely shade...
FOR THE SECOND YEAR in a row, Giambattista Valli did not stage an haute couture show, opting instead for an exhibition of his spring collection, open to the public. “Sometimes the fashion world is too exclusive and sometimes it’s nice to be inclusive,” the designer told Vogue. An open presentation was held at the National Gallery de Jeux Pom in Paris.
January always feels like the longest month of the year. It feels like ages ago we celebrated new resolutions and new beginnings and already I may have failed to keep up with the days without sugar, or with ‘Dynamo’ the Parisian version of Soul Cycle.
Most days were rainy and we saw the sun for just a couple of days, but we had a few spectacular sunsets and even a day and a half of snow.
Coming to the end of this endless month, here are some wonderful things that happened...
In the follow up to our last round-up of Fashion Month favourites from New York, London & Milan, comes the final round-up of Spring 2019 Fashion Month Favourites. From Karl Lagerfeld's fantastical trompe l’oeil beach scene for Chanel at the Grand Palais
The 71st annual Cannes Film Festival was recently held from the 8th to 19th of May 2018. It's one of the most glamorous events of the year and we always look forward to the montée des marches on the tapis rouge. Two years ago, Victoria featured The Best Vintage Cannes Fashion Moments of All Time and last year, Victoria's Secret model Elsa Hosk's red carpet look was stunning, she dedicated an entire article to it. This year, Elsa does it again with a stunning blush silk gown by Alberta Ferretti, and we're also including two other looks we loved: Kendall Jenner in a gauzy Schiaparelli, and Bella Hadid in a pink strapless custom-made gown by Dior.
ONE OF THE fashion world’s most beautiful and enduring platonic love stories was almost never to be. As the story goes, in 1953, while filming Sabrina, Audrey Hepburn paid a visit to French couturier Hubert de Givenchy's studio in Paris to discuss the possibility of his designing the dresses for the film.
TIME AGAIN for another instalment of 10 Things We Love this Week, and this week, we're looking at beautiful paintings, garden picnics and abandoned theme parks in Japan; tassel earrings and wool sweaters, Macramé bag DIYs and much more...
