The Merrion Hotel, located in the heart of Dublin's city centre, is regarded as the capital’s most luxurious five star hotel. The 142-bedroom and suite hotel arises from a restoration of four Georgian townhouses, and includes a pool, spa and gym.
Critabianca is a charming 6-room country house hotel in the heart of Salento. Located in the ancient and picturesque countryside of Cutrofiano, in Grecia Salentina, Critabianca is a welcoming and peaceful oasis.
There is something exciting about interior design, redecorating the living room and having the perfect set up. I think it’s more important to purchase, from time to time, statement pieces―perfect pieces―than rather spending frequently on little pieces that eventually will be hidden somewhere because they don’t fit the aesthetics of your space. I’ve waited months and months for a rug that will fit my little studio and I don’t regret the investment.
This instalment of 10 Things We Lovely Lately includes, as always, a collection of beautiful finds from our travels around the internets, from British photographer Amberly Valentine's shots of model Inka Williams in Rome (above) to crochet for summertime, a Paris apartment, edible chocolate flower pots and more...
LATELY WE HAVE BEEN drawn to soft lines and organic shapes, the kind often found in the cosy, sun-drenched homes in Greece or the Italian countryside. There is something very soothing and relaxing about their forms, their swooping ceilings and archways, and sunken living rooms. Here are a few favourite spaces, from the Perivolas Hotel in Santorini, Greece to Masseria Critabianca in Cutrofiano, Italy, and even a cabin in Norway...
THE NEW ROUTER ARRIVED at the end of last week, and it was in the form of an AI Cube (despite being cylindrical) with Alexa installed. We have since been both mildly amused at the antics of new thing in our midst, and a little suspicious that it may be listening in all of our conversations. Also somehow picked up an horrendous summer cold somewhere at the beginning of last week that has progressively gotten worse...
I was walking the other day, to a conference with Esther Perel (for those reading this article who haven't heard of her, I totally recommend her podcasts and books) and I thought I was never going to get there on time because I stopped in at so many beautiful Parisian design stores on my way. And so, I thought I should share with you some décor inspiration, a few things on my shopping list, and the décor-related Instagram accounts that I adore these days...
WE ARE CURRENTLY IN THE MIDDLE OF DECORATING THE COTTAGE and despite there being unpacked boxes everywhere, have already chosen a paint colour and already know that there will be a gilded antique mirror hanging above the fireplace, a sentimental piece...
Nick Nemechek's Copenhagen apartment is not the kind the we normally gravitate to here at TIG, for it errs a little on the masculine side, but we love to push the boundaries of our aesthetics to keep things new and fresh. Besides, this Scandinavian home still has all of the features we've always adored, such as boiserie, soaring ceiling heights and wood flooring, and Nemechek's addition of plush velvets, books and art make it undeniably chic. Scroll through for a glimpse...
The Verride Palacio Santa Catarina describes itself as a renovated historic townhouse in the heart of Lisbon―an understatement, perhaps, for the 18th-century palacio turned boutique hotel. Originally the home of a Portuguese count, the building was once a bank and even a venue for a pop-up art festival. The 1750 four-storey, 19 room hotel is located in Lisbon’s Chiado quarter and features stunning views over the Tagus River and Atlantic Ocean.
WE FEATURED THE Grand Hotel Villa Feltrinelli in the summer of 2015, but the hotel has since redesigned their website and new photos have emerged. Situated on the picturesque Lake Garda in Italy, the neo-Gothic villa was built in 1892 as a summer home for the famous Italian publisher Feltrinelli family. Today, it is a luxury hotel with 20 suites. Read more about this romantic get-away here, and scroll through for a glimpse into its beautiful old-world rooms and corridors...
PARIS - We've featured our share of Paris apartments here at TIG, as well beautiful interiors found on Instgram. This Haussmannian fits into both categories. L’Appartement La Fayette, as it is known, is Canadian Jackie Kai Ellis' latest project, a space she bought in the winter of 2017.
LONDON - It was the warm pink walls that drew us to this 1880s west London flat decorated by designer Virginia Howard. The designer was given free rein to change spaces around and do the architectural detailing, so the layout was completely transformed, most notably from three bedrooms to two and an enormous amount of storage added.
SOMETIMES THE best place to find inspiring interiors is in the portfolios of photographers. Such is the case with Carley Page Summers, an interior photographer and stylist, passionate about photography from a young age.
SENLIS - Entrepreneur (& famous ex-husband of Tory), Chris Burch, had always dreamed of owning an apartment in Paris, even narrowing down his dream to the exact building on rue de Seine. However, no such apartment was ever available.
