Next to trench coats and cosy knits, leopard print and silk, our favourite trend of Autumn 2019 is the return of checks and plaids. Always classic in our view, checks and plaids in tweeds and bouclé are the perfect way to layer on cool autumn days, whether in a blazer, trench or coat. Here are a few of our favourite ways to wear the trend along with a few shopping links...
It's the first of October and there's nothing left to do but to finally (and wistfully) let go of summer and welcome autumn's moody skies and blustery, windblown mornings. What better way to do it than to plan cosy autumn soirée's? When we came across Maximilian Sinsteden's table setting for dinner at home with friends on Instagram, we knew it was the perfect inspiration for this time of year...
A READER WHO IS MOVING her daughter to Düsseldorf from California has asked for suggestions on what to wear to the airport. We've rounded up an inspiration board of chic, yet comfortable outfits from a few of the most fashionable people, from Victoria Beckham to Carolyn Baessette Kennedy to Pinterest and Instagram finds. And as she will be staying in the German city for nine days, she's also asked what to (lightly) pack. As for that, our advice would be to layer. Perhaps a light jacket such as trench, a pair of blue jeans, a pair of black trousers, a lightweight v-neck jumper, a dress for dinner to start...

Of course, as an unabashed maximalist, it was love at first site. The Spanish fashion designer worked with his friend and decorator, Amaro Sánchez de Moya, who also designed Vázquez's store in La Coruña.
STARRY SKIRTS with warm grey knits and leopard paired with studded mary janes; trench coats over silk dresses, checks and belt bags and bow and berets -- these are just a few of the favourite looks we currently love for autumn ...
PHOEBE PHILO IS LEAVING CÉLINE. The rumours broke out (for the hundredth time) on Tuesday morning, and the fashion industry reacted, for it is Philo who has single handedly returned the chic minimalism to fashion since taking the helm in 2008. Suddenly, women turned away from 'more is more' heavily embellished and colourful ensembles towards simple lines and a tonal colour palette, in clothes that quietly screamed "Power!" It was a revolution, previously unseen in fashion, arguably, since Calvin Klein.
Four days until it's officially autumn, and nothing heralds in the season better than trench coats and cosy tweeds, bouclé and of course, our favourite, tartans and plaids. Here, we've compiled a few of our favourite ways to wear the (classic) trend, from mini skirts in Soho to pants paired with knits and blazers at the airport ...
