Take a break from the sanitised world of Instagram to immerse yourself in the never-before-seen early work of pioneering photographer Diane Arbus. The curated work at the MET covers the period from 1956-1962 in and around the boroughs of NYC as she develops her style of photographing the fringes of society.
NUEVOS TERRITORIOS, or new territories, is the title of this editorial cover shoot for Spanish Vogue. Model Andreea Diaconu is shown in a ranch in the South American countryside amongst wild horses and vast grasslands, redefining the rough gaucho style in sophistication. There were intricately woven ponchos, knits and loosely tied silk scarves, and a dreamy tiered point d’esprit and tulle Valentino minidress that looks as comfortable in untamed nature as it would at a chic Parisian soirée.
IT WAS ON THE NEWS this week that previously unseen photographs — candid ones — from Princess Diana’s wedding to Prince Charles have recently emerged. These “outtakes” were taken by Lord Patrick Lichfield, a photographer and distant family relative. Charles and Diana were wed at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London on July 29, 1981; these photos offer a rare glimpse at the reception, held at Buckingham Palace. The photos will be auctioned by RR Auction house on September 24.
