. . . in between that lost pocket of time — the one just as winter is ending and spring has yet to begin — time stands still, and the world holds its breath, waiting, waiting, for green grass and blossoms on trees, for tulips and daffodils and everything in bloom, and when it does finally happen, everything is awash in a hazy, golden light, and the everything comes alive again . . .
. . . ever since we begun decorating our place, have been collecting inspiration photos of gallery walls, as well as frames of varying shades and colours, but always seem to be drawn to black, white & gold; it is always fascinating to how other walls have come together, to examine the parts that make up the whole, and not only is this wall, above, in decorative-arts dealers laurence and patrick seguin’s beautifully assembled, but it also happens to be the ground floor of a 17th-century mansion in le marais, in paris . . .
isn’t this room astonishing? designed by catherine kwong for the san francisco decorator showcase, and inspired by mick & bianca jagger in the ’70’s, it is the very definition of ornate austerity
