AUTUMN, that wistful interlude between the sultry veil of summer and the frozen stillness of winter, arrives in a cascade of rustling leaves, each one a reminder of the season’s transitory beauty. The air, once laden with the languor of summer, now wears a crisper edge, a hint of the inevitable chill to come. The scent of oud and embers drifting from candles mingles with the earthy fragrance of fallen leaves, weaving a heady potion filled with nostalgia. And while we may be one of the originators of these beautiful seasonal moodboards (remember A Charming List of Things?), we’re far from the only ones to bring them to you now, but we like to think that we’re still one of the ones that do it best. And so, here it is⏤now that we’re steadily moving closer to this interlude. Here’s to cloudy days with their romance, and long conversations over coffee on café terraces while there’s still time; to woodland walks listening to the crunch of leaves; rainy days with a book and long drives in the countryside to see the leaves. Autumn is a time of reflection, of looking both backward and forward, of realising the fleeting nature of all things beautiful. And in the midst of this poignant beauty, there lingers a bittersweet awareness—a knowing that this, too, is not forever. The vibrant hues of autumn will fade, yielding to the austere grasp of winter. But, for now, in this fleeting moment, the streets are filled the fiery brilliance of autumn, and all is right in its melancholy splendour.
