AT THIS MOMENT, the room smells like cool and smoky autumn air after a cosy bonfire. We’re burning Embers & Ash, one of the new fragranced candles that arrived today and it’s strange trying out a different scent from Gardénia, our longtime favourite and the only candle we’ve ever burned for years. But it’s a nice change and it’s definitely cosy. Of course, the overcast crispness, fallen apples, and brown and turning leaves outside of our stone cottage also add to the vibe, especially since it’s been an unusually wet and chilly September. I read in the Weekend FT that this past summer may have been the last moderate summer here and going forward, things will continue to heat up. I’ll save you more newsy bits as I’m certain that you already know that the world is ending. No more news and doomscrolling for me. For the rest of the day, it’s working out and books and a perhaps a film later in the evening (we’re in the middle of something we started last night). Tomorrow I have a morning salon appointment (just a trim), and we have some shooting to do of finished artwork that needs to be sent off to the printers in London. Happy October.
This week’s links include tweed blazers and cashmere jumpers and a recipe for pumpkin tart with ricotta gnocchi; new arrivals at The Shop for cosy autumn nights, and much, much more.
