P’S THIRD PLAYLIST was published this weekend, and I managed a quick late-night Sunday Letter, despite being caught up in a new project at the moment. Last week, I saw The Substance, a recently released film starring Demi Moore that left me unsettled and introspective. On the surface, it’s an exploration of beauty and ageing in Hollywood, but it goes much deeper than that, offering a raw examination of women’s self-image and societal pressures. Moore’s performance is wonderful, bringing depth to a character grappling with fading relevance and extreme self-scrutiny. The film challenged my own views on ageing naturally and cosmetic interventions. It’s more than just a movie—it’s a scathing commentary that lingers long after the credits roll. If you’re ready for a cinematic experience that’s as thought-provoking as it is disturbing, I invite you to read my full review of The Substance. It’s a film that pushes boundaries and forces us to confront uncomfortable truths about beauty, age, and self-acceptance.
