ON FRIDAY WE fit in all of summertime in a day. We pedaled to our favourite pub on the Thames and managed to find a much-coveted seat on the lower dock, right next to the water. After a couple of drinks and working on our laptops, we bicycled to Hampton Court and picnicked on blueberries and blackberries in the sun, watching the swimmers splashing about in the river. As evening approached, we collected takeaway en route to Richmond, where we spent some time on The Green, sunning and sipping drinks we picked up along the way. Later, we ascended the hill, finding a perfect spot on the grassy slope below Terrace Walk. We settled in just in time to watch the sunset, its pink hues reflecting off the distant river. It was a day of pure summer bliss—sun-drenched and effortlessly relaxing. In retrospect, our sun-soaked Friday seems a dream amid the changeable weather that followed—a perfect day seized not just by us, but seemingly all of London.
