SOMEHOW, SUMMERTIME casts an enchanting spell. Even when trying to focus on work, the beckoning sunshine streaming through wide-open windows makes my gaze wander and the languid rhythms of summer days slows everything down. Drenched in warmth and azure skies, I’ll find myself captivated, abruptly abandoning all responsibilities for a leisurely stroll. It’s a wonder anything ever gets accomplished on these summer days. This weekend, I tried a new carrot cake recipe to use up the leftover carrots in the fridge, along with a simple frosting made of butter, cream cheese, and honey. We’ve been enjoying P’s flame-baked flatbread tacos, loaded with steamed cauliflower, various delicious toppings, and, of course, chili crisp.
