HELLO again and Happy New Year! After unintentionally taking off more time than had planned (and missing two Weekend Links in the process), it’s good to be back. Did stop in briefly on New Year’s Day to share my resolutions for 2024, but other than that, for the most part of the past four or so weeks, we’ve been on holiday, which is extremely rare. Had mentioned before that I had planned to keep up with my daily workouts while away, and well, that didn’t happen. What I discovered during this fitness hiatus though, is that my workouts have been holding my entire life together. Without them and the discipline they added to my days, I was completely wayward with everything else. Days lacked structure and I guess that’s okay sometimes, especially since it was Christmas. We would have a late lunch at a French bistro one day, and champagne cocktails at a very elegant Library Bar the next. It all felt a little like being in a festive time capsule, and now it’s time to come back to real life. (Our tree is still up though.) In late August of last year, we soft launched a new project we’ve been working on and this year, we’ll be spending quite a bit more time there. I published a piece for our Paid Subscribers (Thank you!) this past weekend, about how the internet drives commodified aesthetics, and the intersection of commerce and identity in the online beauty market. We have many more ideas, essays and thought experiments that we’ll be sharing at this new space and we hope you’ll join us.
This week’s links include 21 European cities that are even more charming in winter; and the concept of intelligent failure; wool-blend jackets and fair-isle jumpers for January days, and much, much more.
Hope 2024 is off to a wonderful start,
P.S. past weekend links
