IT WAS a beautiful sunny day in late December when we stopped by The Orange gastro pub, an historical gem nestled in the heart of Belgravia. Thought to be named after William of Orange, its origins trace back to the 1800s when it was originally established as a brewery on the grounds of a former coffee house. Over the years, The Orange has evolved into a grand establishment that spans four floors, offering a glimpse into the past while perfectly blending with the modern craft district of Pimlico Road.
During our visit, just five days before Christmas, we were greeted by the warmth of the pub’s festive atmosphere. Securing a cosy seat next to the crackling fire in a quaint room adjacent to the main restaurant made our experience even better. The pub’s interior exudes comfort with its cream-coloured walls, elegant sconces, classic wood floors, inviting fireplaces, and plush winged armchairs, creating an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and welcoming.
Upstairs, there are four inviting rooms, including two Standard and two Superior accommodations complete with king-sized beds, a great option for those seeking a memorable stay in London, combining the convenience of a central location with the charm of an historic building.
Downstairs, there is a laid-back atmosphere and impeccable service—the staff’s friendliness and attentiveness further enhanced our overall impression of The Orange. And while we didn’t indulge in the culinary offerings during this time, the promise of a wonderful dining experience lingered, leaving us with the anticipation of returning to try the food on our next stop.
A living testament to Belgravia’s storied past, The Orange pub provides a multidimensional experience bridging its 19th century brewing origins to its current role as an inviting retreat in central London. The venue strikes a seamless balance between old world charm and modern hospitality catering to today’s discerning visitors. This fusion of past and present makes The Orange a must-visit destination for travelers seeking an authentic taste of London’s rich history and vibrancy.
