WHEN WE wrote about our holiday table setting inspiration featuring ribbon bows (with a little design history included), we had no idea just how many areas⏤from fashion to food and more⏤the bow (define as a specific decorative arrangement of material such as satin, organza, silk) has been adorning. From maximalist candelabras overflowing with dusty pink and cream-coloured satin bows to Christmas trees decorated with ribbon bows and candle lights; to dainty bows on pink jacket sleeves and deep crimson ones on white frosted cakes; the designer Cecilie Bahnsen has created limited-editon white and powder pink organza ones, and Chanel in Paris has decorated the outside of their shop at Place Maurice-Barrès (although to be fair, the fashion house has always been into bows); there are more bows on table tops and tiny, tiny bows in long hair, and even bow-shaped cakes. While much of the inspiration comes from wedding trends, many of these ideas would work perfectly for holiday dinners and New Year’s Eve soirées. Here is part two of our celebration of the bow…
