LATELY we have been coming across concrete used in décor everywhere⏤so much so that it has become a common fixture on Instagram. A major trend in interior design in 2018, concrete, a material that is often associated with building foundations, driveways and patios, has been making its way into home accessories, flooring, shelving, lighting and even furniture. And now it’s back.
But what exactly is concrete? Concrete is a strong, hard building material that is created by mixing a cementing material (such as Portland cement) and a mineral aggregate (such as sand and gravel) with enough water to cause the cement to set and bind the entire mass together. Often thought to be cold in appearance in the past, the neutral tones of the material actually make it work well in both modern and more traditional interior designs.
