P AND I WERE talking this week about how I may be absorbing the weight of the unrelenting news cycles, the political turmoil, all the constant bad news. I am naturally empathic and find it difficult sometimes not to internalise all of the problems going on in the world. In fact, it was getting so bad that I recently remarked to him (after reading one too many idiotic comments about such news stories on social media) that we should start our own society of normal people. We did, he said. Here, in this house. I laughed and told him that two people do not a society make. All kidding aside, since I also believe that you are what you consume, in the interest of sanity, I will need to balance the bad with the good and find my way back to great books and beautiful music, spring sunshine and countryside walks, and sharing things that are inspiring, uplifting, and remind us all that there is still beauty in this world, if you know where to look. Today also marks one year to the day that we have been in lockdown. In three weeks from now, the shops here will open and we’ll all take tentative steps toward life again…
This week’s links include an island home and trench coats for spring days; the best ergonomic office chairs, workout wear, and much, much more.
