ON FRIDAY there was a salon appointment in the city, so we decided to spend the day. We stopped in for flat whites at our favourite coffee shop, did a little shopping, visited the art gallery and stopped in for oysters at a fancy food hall. We also spent a good part of the afternoon having drinks at a place we love over the bridge with tables on a terrace along the river, and ended the day with dinner at a new pasta bar (Taglierini Shetland Mussel, Tomato & Smoked Salmon for me, Spaghetti Carbonara for P). It was a really lovely day, and perhaps the last one like it we’ll have in a long time if things continue as they are with what appears to be a second spike in the pandemic. The rest of the weekend we spent outdoors as much as possible, for summer returned again, and we were desperate to hang on to the memory of the sun on our faces for when summer’s golden days fade into autumn for good for another year.
This week’s links include the best bakeries in Paris and cosy cable knit sweaters for chilly September days; the best Airbnbs in the UK and Ireland, and much, much more.
