Notes from the Weekend & a Few Lovely Links

Notes from the Weekend & a Few Lovely Links 21.10.19
@chez.amelie

JUST FINISHED READING The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood and am entirely unsure how I feel about it. Having never seen the recent television series by Bruce Miller (with no desire to), am still pondering whether or not I even liked it. It started off well enough (could hardly put it down, actually), but as it moved along, there were quite a few improbabilities and plot holes and parts that rambled on. It’s a mix of emotions here, having never been fond of ambiguous, unsatisfactory endings. Think shall have to move on to non-fiction for the next book, a break from such heavy, dystopian ideas. Funnily enough, the book directly before this one was Rutger Bregman’s Utopia for Realists. This weekend was all take-aways and cosy fires at the cottage, wool sweaters and Sunday lunch at the charming pub over the bridge, fresh pastries and falling leaves. Moments of happy contentment.

This week’s links include a stunning summer villa in Menorca and the best shopping items for winter days; a blue and green powder room, how to break up with social media and much, much more.
