SOMETIMES ON WEEKENDS (if there’s time) we like to watch random old films that we’ve never heard about, and this weekend, it we found a great one. It’s called Lost in America (1985) and is about a “husband and wife in their 30’s [who] decide to quit their jobs, live as free spirits and cruise America in a Winnebago.”
Year: 2018
Special events & party planner Françoise Dumas' Paris apartment has that time-worn, lived-in feel that's difficult to replicate, both cosy and comfortable and sophisticated at once. The kind that cooly mixes Jacques Grange-designed sofas with 1930's ceramics from the collection of Karl Lagerfeld.
Last week in my Articles of Interest, I linked to an article about Bailey Richardson, one of the eleven original employees working for Instagram when they were purchased by Facebook for one billion dollars in 2012. The article discusses how Richardson and a few other original employees have now abandoned the popular social media platform by deleting their profiles, citing as their reasons, a move away from the original ethos of artistry, intimacy, discovery and free expression on the platform, giving way to a celebrity-driven marketplace.
Gisele Bündchen considers her memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, to be a letter to her younger self and a voice behind an image, one that she hopes that she can use for good.
Is Lessons worth a read? Absolutely. It’s a light and uplifting read, more self-help than lifestyle guide.

Foxing vocalist Conor Murphy laughs when I say his band’s strange, glittery, and stunningly produced new album, Nearer My God, sounds like they went for broke. “I think we literally went for broke.
House & Garden recently featured the Georgian home of Jack Laver Brister, an antiques dealer and interior decorator living in Frome, Somerset. The 1780s home, with he shares with his partner Richard Nares, is the most deliciously maximalist with its blend of eighteenth and early nineteenth century furniture, prints, patterns, textures, colours, and art.
Our recent Edit: The Case for Cowboy Boots was so well received that we found ourselves surprised by how many of you love this style of boot, especially in its updated incarnation. So, we've rounded up a few more styles to shop, along with a few High/Low selections. The holidays are here! In New York, giant snowflakes adorn Fifth Avenue, the leaves are at their golden and crimson height, windows are being dressed, and soon snow will transform Central Park into a winter wonderland.
There are more visitors than usual in Manhattan during this time of year. Inevitably, I will be asked for directions to Sephora or Glossier.
NOVEMBER IS ALWAYS a bittersweet time, for it was on a chilly morning in early November in a city far away that we lost our sweet Dalmatian. She was a rescue whom we adopted when she was just three months old and was a grand old fifteen when she died. It’s a very long time for a Dalmatian to live, we were told, but forever would not have been long enough. That was two cities and six years ago this month. We say bittersweet, because she lived a long, happy life and we had the privilege of knowing her for most of it. And it’s also bittersweet because the year is coming to an end, but there are still so many things to look forward to and so many beautiful reasons to be happy. Hope you had a wonderful weekend and that your week is off to a perfect start.
Planningtorock has a brand new album coming our way in November called ‘Powerhouse’, and this week she is giving us just a tiny taste of what we can expect with the smooth, gooey sounds of ‘Much to Touch’.
