“I am absolutely thrilled to finally mark the city with my signature.” —Zaha Hadid

520 West 28th, Zaha Hadid’s only New York City project — also known as The Highline (West Chelsea’s elevated park) Condos — consists of a futuristic 11-story residential building complete with 37 units. 520 West 28th is a striking balance between fractured traditional building forms and the architect’s signature curves. According to Hadid, the design an attempt to evoke the urban dynamic that exists between the streets of Chelsea and the High Line. “The multiple layers of the public realm of 28th Street and the High Line are conveyed in the split levels of the building, which in turn are reflected in the woven chevron pattern of the facade,” she said. “This metal facade is handcrafted and carries the spirit of this industrial neighborhood.”

This project is currently under construction and is set to be completed in 2016-17. See the progress here & the listings here.
