STOCKHOLM-born Felicia Akerstrom's impeccable style has been featured here at TIG many times before. The blogger, digital influencer and content creator describes her social channels as a visual diary of her style and travels. We love her minimalistic style and her effortless high-low mix of investment pieces and affordable finds. From long skirts and light-knit sweaters to white pantsuits and black halter dresses, here are a few of our favourite looks...
HAPPY MONDAY! It's the start of a three-day workweek before a four-day weekend and despite the gloomy skies and incessant rain, there seems to be a bounce in everyone's steps today. Last week had told you that we were repainting the living room and we finished on Thursday and it looks gorgeous! Can't believe I managed to pick such a beautiful colour without ordering any swatches or sample pots ...
ONE OF THE BEST things about the changing of the seasons is all the different fruits and vegetables that signal each one. Summers in Spain meant sandía in the mornings and springtime means lots of sweet, dark cherries. Right now, in early autumn, it's apples, hanging heavy from all the trees scattered about the countryside, and my most favourite of all, fig season ...
BY NOW YOU'LL KNOW about our steadfast love for summertime, and how every September we're always a little wistful thinking about its inevitable end. The past three days here in England have been an absolute dream with the warm golden temperatures you might find in mid-summer.
JUST FINISHED reading "Little Fires Everywhere" by Celeste Ng and didn't really like it. After finishing Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, which was beautifully written, Little Fires seemed much more utilitarian in its writing style, which is fine if things hadn't ended so abruptly and with so many things unresolved.
One of the few mercies during this crisis is that, by their nature, individual coronaviruses are easily destroyed. Each virus particle consists of a small set of genes, enclosed by a sphere of fatty lipid molecules, and because lipid shells are easily torn apart by soap, 20 seconds of thorough hand-washing can take one down.
Binki’s new eclectic indie-rap single “Wiggle” makes its much anticipated premiere today. His knack for smooth basslines wrapped (pun intended) in authentic lyrics made for much buzz in the underground community and “Wiggle”, the appropriately named release, delivered. Following this single, binki plans to drop a new song every month until the end of the year.
Mercury Prize-nominated musician Loyle Carner has released a song named after London based chef and restaurateur Yotam Ottolenghi. The song, Ottolenghi, dropped last night and features a reference to the chef’s cookbook Jerusalem, which is a homage Israeli-born Ottolenghi’s youth spent growing up in the Middle Eastern city.
ON FRIDAY NIGHT we met up with old acquaintances from Edinburgh for drinks at place we like to take all visitors. It had been one of those maddening days where you are trapped at the office all day waiting for a parcel to be delivered, only it never arrived, so meeting for drinks was the perfect way to end the week and forget about all things work-related and mingle with the warm summer night.
Call this their couples’ therapy trilogy. From Lemonade to 4:44 to Everything Is Love, Beyoncé and JAY-Z have taken us through their (apparent) conflict, resolution, and reconciliation as lovers. Though their narrative has been carefully curated and packaged for our consumption, the themes are nonetheless universal: Love and marriage are not easy, a bond between lovers will be tested, and the reward for surviving those turbulent moments is a stronger union.
Perennial UK-rock instigator Liam Gallagher has released the second single from his upcoming debut solo album As You Were, a title which is also the way he signs most of his tweets. “Chinatown” is a number driven by acoustic guitars and a thumping bass drum, drenched in monolithic reverb.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way than this: where I does not exist, nor you, so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
FOR THIS WEEK’S 10 IMAGES, we revisit the work of Paris-based Ukrainian photographer Alina Kolot (@alinakolot), nearly one year later. As enchanting as ever, there are picnics with baguettes and rosé, pink roses and Laudurée, and that certain joie de vivre that Paris is known for . . .
