BETELGEUSE, the red supergiant star in the shoulder of the constellation Orion, will disappear from the sky briefly tonight, at 8:17 p.m. EST in what scientists are calling a once-in-a-lifetime occasion. An asteroid called 319 Leona will pass in front of Betelgeuse and block its light for a few seconds as a shadow falls across Earth’s surface.

TO SAY THAT THIS has been quite a week would be the understatement of the century. But world events aside,...

WELL THE WEATHER OUTSIDE has definitely been frightful, with rain and rather dramatic thundershowers for seemingly forever for a city that...
I AM WRITING to you from my brand new desk, which is actually an enormous solid oak dining table that arrived from Paris this morning. It is enormously heavy and makes a dramatic statement in the dining-area-turned-office and I’ve been googling how to make the back of a computer look nice (or at least tidy), as that’s what you see when you first enter the room, when your dining table is now your office.
. . . the midst of the weekend and so far it has been topknots and trenchcoats, billowy clouds and...
HAPPY VALENTINE'S Day! Do you have anything special planned? This weekend we finally had a chance to watch Nomadland the 2020 film written, produced, edited and directed by Chloé Zhao. It was, in a word, depressing. Poignant, perhaps to the point of heartbreak. In way though, it also made me thankful for my life and the things I have and reminded me to not take them for granted (ever), just as it made me really think about the future in a way I never had before, being someone who spends life between living in the moment and dwelling on the past ...
WE ARE WORKING on a few new designs for Belgrave Crescent for the fall, including a redesign of the website itself. We have also been working on a few new projects at The Shop and will be adding a new Art section that will include the most beautiful prints of grisaille paintings by a very talented artist we’ve been working with.
THE WEATHER has been amazing over the past few days, so the weekend was, of course, perfect. We spent most of it outside, eating gazpacho and watermelon, talking of our upcoming travels and plans and places we want to visit, such as Villa di Geggiano, an Italian restaurant in Chiswick. We also talked about books and films, and well, pretty much everything.
. . . and despite amassing more than enough inspirational links (in fact, so much so that, they will need...
TIG NEWSLETTER subscribers always love Weekend Links best—in fact, it's also one of the most popular regular features on the site and I've often wondered what it is that readers like so much. This weekend was one of those cosy homebody types of weekends: a fire, some drinks, and P made Aubergine & Cauliflower Korma, a vegetarian dish with toasted cumin and coriander seeds, ginger, desiccated coconut and flaked almonds. It was delicious!
Some weekends are a beautiful whirl, and this weekend was one such — there were cosy dinners at home and...
