THIS MESSAGE arrives from a train rolling along the seaside, travelling from Scotland to England. Tomorrow marks two weeks since I ended up in hospital—an experience that proved physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging. I wrote about it initially here, and later explored it in more detail here. At the moment, we’re revisiting old haunts in the city we used to visit often when we lived in the English countryside, before London. It feels busier here than it did before, but that could simply be because it’s summertime, or perhaps this city is changing, growing, transitioning. It feels as though everything is changing lately—the weather, the seasons, life trajectories. I saw an aphorism on Pinterest today that read, “Sometimes in the wave of change we find our true direction,” and it’s something I’ve been thinking about a great deal. Today we stopped for lunch and picked up strawberries and blueberries at the market and suddenly everything feels like summertime…

This week’s links include a recipe for salmon tartare, the many lives of Turkish food, cashmere for summer nights, and more.
