THE NEW OVEN was delivered last week, and it’s been sitting in the middle of the kitchen for days, as P thought he might get electrocuted if he installed it himself after watching one too many Youtube videos advising the hiring of a qualified electrician if you don’t know what you’re doing. I had a feeling it wasn’t as complicated as he was making it out to be, but we tried to ask around anyway to see if anyone knew any electricians who could do it on short notice. In the end, we ended up enlisted a random tradesperson who has been at a construction project across the street at our neighbour’s and it took him about ten minutes, with no trouble at all, and certainly no fear of shock. We really need to make more friends with people who are handy. Christmas wreaths have been ordered and are on the way, as well as fancy new gold-rimmed champagne glasses. It’s beginning to feel festive around here…

This week’s links include a 17th-century house in a hilltop Cotswold hamlet, and new arrivals at the Print Shop; cosy cashmere gifts for him; charming Christmas tree ornaments, and much, much more.
