Notes from the Weekend & a Few Lovely Links 24.10.22
@sandrasemburg

JUST STARTED watching Jean-Luc Godard’s 1963 film Le mépris this weekend and will tell you if it’s as good as everyone says. If you’ve been at The Shop recently, you’ll know that we’ve been busy⏤we just opened a new print shop (with many more pieces to come!) and have added beauty products to our line-up. They’re vegan, organic, and handmade in Auvergne. Last week, the roses in the village were all still in bloom and the leaves were still clinging to their summer colours. Today, almost as if overnight, the entire town has changed and all the leaves have turned into shades of orange and gold and crimson. Many have already fallen and autumn is in the air. I was reading in the Weekend FT that these last three months of the year are known as the Golden Quarter for pubs, the time where they make a third or half of all their earnings in the year. The last two years, there were lockdowns, so most were hoping that this year, things would bounce back, but that so far doesn’t appear to be the case. Hopefully things will pick up in November. Last week we were in Glasgow for a concert. We stopped by a pub first to get out of the pouring rain and have a drink by the fire. Afterward, we stopped in at a place nearby for sushi (miso soup, tuna tartare, king prawn tempura) before the show. It was a nice change of pace, a concert. Think that was the first time in a long time that we were around that many people all at once.

This week’s links include an artfully curated Parisian apartment that mixes Art Deco references with Wabi-Sabi vibes; a recipe for Roasted Pistachio Pumpkin Muffins with Coconut Butter; cosy cashmere for autumn days, a 16th-century Normandy Manor, and much, much more.

This support allows us to keep our site free for everyone, as we know that not everyone is in a position to pay for content. But if you are, your help by purchasing from our online shop helps with the high costs of running This Is Glamorous: a legacy site such as ours, with many years’ worth of image-heavy content, requires a lot of upkeep, and any amount you can afford helps a great deal, whether you’re purchasing a candle, an art print, or every wicker handbag we’ve ever offered. Your support means everything to us and if you would like to thank us for making your day a little brighter, please consider helping us to continue to bring you the content you love.
