Notes from the Weekend & a Few Lovely Links

Notes from the Weekend & a Few Lovely Links 16.05.22
@jo_rodgers

GIVE ME coffee to change the things that I can and wine to accept the things that I can not, read a quote on a portable sign that I saw on someone’s account this weekend. It’s sunny and just after 6:00pm on what began as a very dark and rainy Monday, but has since turned into a beautiful mid-May day. This morning I learned what a dawn chorus is after being awoken at well, dawn, which, at this time of year, is just before 4:00am. It’s lovely living in the English countryside, but we didn’t know about dawn choruses after having only ever lived in cities before moving here. I’m sure we’ll get used to it soon and perhaps even sleep through it⏤after all, we’ve slept through much worse sounds in cities⏤sirens and cars, for example. My friend Emily once posted a video on her Instagram page of a firetruck beneath her bedroom window with its lights and red siren illuminating the entire street. She had just moved from LA to NYC and was having the opposite situation as us. Birdsong is infinitely better than that, just maybe not quite so early in the morning. This weekend I also finally cancelled Netflix and moved on to something else. I’ve also decided to repaint the living room and ordered a beautiful soft pinkish shade from a plant-based paint company that I’ve just discovered. It’s going to be a lot of work, as an entire gallery wall has to come down and a shelf filled with heavy coffee table books has to be moved, but it is going to look amazing, I think. I hope. I’ll let you know how it turns out.

This week’s links include the best places to travel in June and thoughts on what life might be like if others couldn’t see it; linen trousers and leather sandals for summer days, and much, much more.
