Notes from the Weekend & a Few Lovely Links

Notes from the Weekend & a Few Lovely Links 01.11.21
@milliproust

I READ AN article this weekend about the things you can do to increase your chances of living to 100 and felt smug that I was already doing many of them (Strength training? Check. Dark chocolate? Yes. A Mediterranean Diet? Of course.). The ones that I wasn’t doing, I started immediately, buying a box of green tea and ordering a high bar to install in the door frame outside our upstairs home gym (apparently a daily dead hang is said to bring mobility back to your shoulders by decompressing the spine, stretching out the shoulders, and building strength in the upper back and shoulders). And in case you didn’t already know, bread is okay! 100% whole-wheat bread, that is, which is rich in complex carbohydrates. Same goes with brown rice. Red wine at 5:00pm appears to be fine as well, but this one seems to change regularly, depending on where you find your health information. Tonight for dinner P made portobello mushrooms stuffed with pesto, brie and roasted pine nuts—it was incredible. We have been eating the most delicious meals these past few weeks, thanks to new recipes he’s been trying from a few new cookbooks we ordered recently. Tomorrow I have a salon appointment (the first one since June) and I will arrive armed with Pinterest photos of medium-length shag haircuts with wispy side bangs. I’m really looking forward to the appointment and to having some semblance of style to this unruliness that is currently my hair. The clocks went back here early Sunday morning and it’s been wonderful having an extra hour. Can you believe that there are only two months of this year left?

This week’s links include the beauty of icebergs and the search to solve the problem of microplastics; knitted wool capes for winter days, Kale Salad with Pecan Vinaigrette and much, much more.
