Playlist 04.04.14 : Five Songs for the Weekend

This Is Glamorous | Weekend Playlist 04.04.14

It’s the weekend again, which means another instalment of Five Songs for your Weekend, and this week’s playlist has a laid-back, soulful vibe. –P.

Up and coming alt R&B star, Tom Krell, will release his third album, What Is This Heart?, this summer under his stage name How To Dress Well, produced by Rodaidh McDonald (Vampire Weekend, The xx). Here is the sublime “Repeat Pleasure” from the forthcoming album.

London based singer/songwriter Kwabs released his debut EP, Wrong Or Right back in February. “Wrong Or Right” is the soulful lead track that is currently getting a lot of attention.

Indie folk rockers Real Estate from New Jersey, return with “Talking Backwards” from their third release, Atlas, a languid single that reminds me of long summer afternoons.

Banks performs an acoustic cover version of Aaliyah’s 1998 hit “Are You That Somebody?” at the BBC’s Live Lounge.

The Take Off and Landing of Everything is Elbow’s sixth studio release and earned them their first UK number 1 album when it was released earlier this year. “New York Morning” is the first single from the album.

Adoring these playlists! Please keep them coming

  • That Banks cover is awesome! I just listened to the original Aaliyah song the other day, actually–covering my nostalgia bases. But it’s so cool to hear a cover!
