Nicky Haslam’s work [above] first appeared here five years ago, and then again, a few weeks ago, a true testament to the timelessness of the beautiful rooms he creates. At the age of 73, he is an Interior Designer, Writer, Socialite, Cabaret Singer, and Blogger.

Born at Great Hundridge Manor in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, Haslam began his career in the 1970’s, breeding show horses, and working as a photographer, as well as designing rooms and parties for clients in Los Angeles, including Natalie Wood.

Returning to London in 1972, he was asked to decorate a townhouse for Lord Hesketh; it was also around this time that he began NH Designs, which he continues to run today . . .

Clients of NH Designs have included Ringo Starr, Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart, and Bryan Ferry; as well as designed parties for the Prince of Wales, Lord Rothschild, and Sir Evelyn and Lady de Rothschild. Nicky Haslam has been a contributing editor of British Vogue and Tatler for many years, and in December 2010, he began blogging for The Telegraph.

He is the best! HIs creative director, Colette van den Thillart is a Canadian so we get to see lots of his work (Canadians are always so thrilled when one of us is doing something interesting!)
Wow that bathtub! Incredible!
NIcky Haslam’s work is brilliant and he is indeed an English institution… I do love his interiors… classic with a twist… and also consistently good…
Great post… much sighing from me… :) xv
He’s such an interesting person, in so many ways. If you haven’t listened to his chat with “Desert Island Discs” … you MUST. It was done a number of years ago. Google “Desert Island Discs” and in the search box type his name. The radio program will come up, and it is a charming conversation. All the archives have been made available by the BBC. Then you will know much more about him. Very nice post, thank you
