{inspiration: birds of a feather}

Feathers, feathers everywhere — ostrich on evening gowns, in vases on fireplace mantels and in pretty up-swept hair — but best of all, atop four-poster beds all draped in French fabrics, as if awaking on a magical, misty morning in le château de Versailles . . .

{p.s.} more feathers

  • I love feathers — such a whimsical addition to home + fashion. I think that my favorite is feathers in a vase…although, we were playing with feathers on day, and kind of worked them into a 4 ft. vase made of fine sticks. It looks pretty chic! Pretty post :)

  • Once when I was 8 years old, my Tante Maria was visiting our rural New England home from Munich. The first morning after her arrival, our bird feeder was filled with noisy blue jays. My aunt had never seen one, and fell in love with the blue feathers. Over the course of her five week visit, we gathered enough molted feathers from various birds, including a pheasant, for her to make an exquisite pin. I think my love affair with feathers began with that treasure hunt, and continues to this day. Thank you for the beautiful post, and for bringing back a lovely memory…
