Notes from the Weekend & a Few Lovely Links

THIS WEEKEND WAS deliciously low-key, the kind that involves red wine and films by candlelight. And if you’re searching for a heartwarming film, watch The Castle (a 1997 Australian comedy-drama directed by Rob Sitch), which was funny and a little wistful and uplifting all at once. P has been referring to a recommendation list of films which has so far proven pretty good. Another we began watching on Sunday night but haven’t yet finished, is A Shot in the Dark (a 1964 comedy directed by Blake Edwards), which is, so far, hilarious. It was also still warm enough for drinks on terraces and long walks and we’re taking it all in as the leaves fall and winter quietly makes it way into the early mornings and the darkest parts of the night. We’re summer dreamers, he & I, who only ever reluctantly accept the cooler days, and always keep summer in our hearts.

This week’s links include Edoardo Tresoldi’s Mesh & Metal architectural ruins at Le Bon Marché, and a tour of Hamish Bowles’ New York City home; Marilyn Monroe, mohair sweaters and much, much more …
