Our Favourite Fall/Winter 2017 Campaigns

SEPTEMBER IS THE FASHION INDUSTRY’S NEW YEAR. The start of autumn means reinventing your wardrobe to be the woman you’ve always wanted to be, whether it’s finally succumbing to French girl style, or buying your first leather trousers for a femme fatale look. Fall campaigns — much like fashion editorials — are a reflection of their time, pointing to the zeitgeist of the moment as much as articles or features. The mood for this autumn? Well, it’s a positive one, simply look at Missoni’s colourful campaign, or the promising new look of DVF under Jonathan Saunders; and an imaginative one, cue Gucci’s 60s sci-fi campaign complete with extra-terrestrial creatures and dinosaurs. So, whoever you want to be this fall, make it a stand-out.

Entitled “Preservation Hall and Other Stories,” the campaign features a star-studded cast, including Naomie Harris, Kate Moss, and Adwoa Aboah. Styled by LOVE editor-in-chief, Katie Grand, and shot by photographer Alasdair McLellan, the photographs strike a balance between the old and the new, having been set in New Orleans.

Dior

Maria Grazia Chiuri chose nine models to stand in front of Brigitte Lacombe’s camera, wearing the legendary French fashion house’s Fall 2017 collection. Why is it so special? The marine blue hue of the clothes and accessories, of course, broken only by the gold and silver accents that made the brand one of the top performers in 2017.

Sies Marjan

Fresh off a CFDA award nomination, the label’s debut collection was shot by photographer Bruce Weber, featuring an intimate line-up full of relationships, take Isabella Rossellini and her photographer son, Roberto, or Sasha Pivovarova and her daughter. The mellow look of the pictures is perfect for fall.

Missoni

Missoni’s soft-spoken and whimsical campaign makes the fashion house and Gigi Hadid seem like the perfect match. The barefaced beauty was captured by Harley Weir, a young photographer. “Shot against the backdrop of Monte Rosa,” the campaign is a symbol of female empowerment which Angela Missoni stands for.

Gucci

Alessandro Michele’s runway aesthetic has remained the same since his first collection for Gucci in 2015, and yet his campaigns upgrade every season. For Fall 2017, the brand took the lead from 60s sci-fi with dinosaurs and aliens among a psychedelic Guccified backdrop, referencing cult film Star Wars.

Diane Von Furstenberg

The Fall 2017 campaign is Jonathan Saunders’s first for DVF since he took the helm of the legendary American brand in 2016. Photographed by Oliver Hadlee Pearch in New York, the shots mark a break from the brand’s usual aesthetic, introducing a modern take that is likely to resonate with a younger generation.

The Maje Fall/Winter 2017 campaign is modern and a little rock n’ refined. Photographer Tyrone Lebon shoots Romanian model Andreea Diaconu on location in Paris with flash, no make-up and natural, wavy hair.
