Décor Inspiration | Sunrise Villa in Mustique

I’ve been writing about the delights of the season recently with pieces on decorating with winter whites and stylish bar carts so I thought I might do something completely different this week by injecting some much needed sunshine and allowing us all to flee—albeit virtually—to a much warmer climate.

And this colonial-style villa on the tropical island of Mustique, designed by British interior designer Michael Reeves, would surely make the perfect bolthole to which to escape in these darkest days of the year?

The style of the house is elegant in a relaxed and unfussy way: antiques sit comfortably in the space with simple white slip-covered chairs and sofas alongside lots of pretty lighting and carefully chosen, perfectly placed art pieces. Decked out mostly in the neutral palette favoured by Michael Reeves for his clients, he has chosen restful shades of white, taupe and pale grey and used pattern sparingly. The overall effect of these clever design choices is that the glowing scenery beyond the windows is allowed to be the star of the show—exactly as it should be . . . Louise
