At the Auction House: Christies Announces the Private Collection of President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan

British auction house Christies recently announced The Private Collection of President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan auction with bidding opening on September 19, 2016: “The online selection features 260 lots from entertaining wares such as the Reagans’ Thanksgiving platter and turkey-form salt and pepper casters, through to photographs that were dotted around their post-Presidential Bel Air home. Other highlights include much-loved books from their bookshelves, earrings and handbags worn by the First Lady, a selection of music from their personal library and decorative porcelains and napery from the First Couples’ extensive collection. Proceeds from the sale are designated for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute.”

The auction catalogue is also available online and inside, alongside the lovely pieces up for auction, there are also photographs of the Reagans’ Bel Air home, which sold this past July for $15 million. The home, designed by Ted Graber and Peter Schifando, features soft florals and luxe hand-painted wallpaper, chandeliers and marble fireplaces — click through for a glimpse . . .
