New York apartment by Jean-Louis Deniot

This elegant apartment in New York by renowned French designer Jean-Louis Deniot, has a sense of stillness and peace that brings to mind a pristine lake reflecting its surroundings on a calm, clear day. The perfection of the finish, the symmetry and balance that is so carefully orchestrated and the restrained, restful palette, all contribute to this sense of exquisite serenity.

The colour palette of grey and white with touches of gold was chosen to infuse the space with as much light as possible — the contrast means that white appears even brighter than it would have in an all white scheme. Modern art, antique lighting and sculptural pieces such as the mirror over the fireplace in the living room by Hervé Van Der Straeten add movement and curved forms to the predominantly geometric design scheme. Louise Keane, Contributor This Is Glamorous
Interiors Editor, Edinburgh

Louise Keane grew up beside the sea in Dublin, inspiring a life-long love of the coast. She studied French and History of Art & Architecture in Trinity College in Dublin before moving to London to work first in publishing and then in Marketing & PR. After a move to Edinburgh, she decided to heed a creative urge which had been tugging at her sleeve for a number of years, and she retrained as an interior designer. While studying interior design, Louise discovered a love of pen and ink with watercolour illustration, which she now does alongside her interior design work. Louise runs her interior design company, Amalfi White Living, which offers her clients a fresh, elegant style, mixing vintage and modern pieces for a luxurious yet relaxed look. She dreams of renovating a white house by the sea.

2 Notes
  • Love the grey/white color palette, it creates a relaxing ambience with a touch of luxury!

  • Deniot is really having a moment. I just saw a post on another blog with a different project of his. I like these grays, and inspired by one of his projects chose a similar palette of grays for my renovation. I like the MCM style here but I prefer when he goes more traditional.
