There are buildings in Oxford that showcase every English architectural period since the arrival of the Saxons, including the iconic, mid-18th-century Radcliffe Camera, a building designed by James Gibbs in the English Palladian style.  It was built in 1737–1749 to house the Radcliffe Science Library.
